Aaron Siskind (1903-1991), photographer, guides us through his documentary work with the Photo League in the 1930s to his later abstract work. The film traces Siskind’s development toward abstraction, focusing on his aesthetic and working method. The film documents Siskind taking photographs, supervising their printing and commenting on his work and the influences on it. The film was shot in the months before Siskind’s death. It had its premiere at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, on Ocober 23, 1991.
